The Westbank Lizards won the fantasy world's elite baseball championship by defeating the Texas Hitmen in dominating
fashion 9-1 in the Xtreme Series Final.
Three pitchers posted 3 win RP's, while Bill Hall had 5 home runs and Albert Pujlos, Nick Swisher, Chase Utley
and Alex rodriguez all had 4 home runs respectively. " We were steady all season long", Pujlos said, "Mr.
Vegas assemled a team of true champions. Each player performed to the expectations of the front office, no one took a day
off. That's what it takes to win the Xtreme Series".
Joe Nathan and BJ Ryan had 6 saves each. While Dave Roberts had 7 stolen bases.
The Hitmen's fantasy dream run, came to an abrupt end against the Lizards.
In the League Championship Series against the Belleville Knights, Ryan Howard, hit .553, with 10
home runs, 17 Runs and 17 RBI's along with Garrett Atkins' .510 4 HR 16 RBI's and 14 Runs, and a pitching staff who threw
lights out, all came back to earth at the most inopportune time for the Hitmen.
"Our pitching staff just gave in to the pressure. We had good momentum heading into the Series but we really
just ran into a buzzsaw in the Lizards", Hitmen Owner Chris Mongogna said. "This team probably should
have won the Championship last year, but because the season was cancelled due to Hurricane Katrina, no one
will ever know. They got what they deserved, just a year late".
Whatever you say about the Westbank Lizards being new to the fantasy baseball world, you must give them credit where
credit is due. The only way to mould a team as consistant and more importantly as GOOD as the Lizards have been for
the past two years is by hard work, dedication and study habits that are second to none. And to that we give the Westbank
Lizards tip of the baseball hat.
Congratulations!!!
