Gramercy Owner Bows to Pressure

April 18, 2006

Gramercy, La

The beat writer for the Gramercy Gray Sox has filed the following report with Dugout Editor-in-Chief, Max Mercy.

Hello this is Redd Buggs reporting from Gramercy La. Where the Gray Sox released the following statement through their attorney I.M. Guiced:

"Due to extensive media and political pressure.  The XFBL organization formerly known as the Gramercy Gray Sox are moving their headquarters to the city of Shreveport, La. and will be known as the Shreveport Sox."

All their minor league affiliates will remain the same. Despite demands, that the team show more sensitivity toward illegal immigrants, the aggressively challenged, and religious zealots.

The Sox GM Sam "Fatman" Fayard said in a statement today that his organization,  "Don't give a damn about dem bastards". That’s what I call political correctness.

The Sox who are struggling with their pitching staff and lack of front office experience have far more urgent issues to address.  Like their lack of depth at the SS position.  Fatman admits that he was under the influence at the annual league draft, and was fined by the club and ordered to attend EA - Eater's Anonymous.

Well that’s all for now from the former home of the Gramercy Gray Sox.  This is Redd Buggs saying, "If it don't itch, don't scratch".

Editors note:

According to a statement issued by XFBL officials, “The request to relocate this franchise, has been discussed at great lengths, and the owners have been granted permission to move the team”.  One league official, quoted on the condition of anonymity, said “this is a great move, Shreveport is a perfect town for a team in this league, with all the gambling addicted owners, and the many casinos located there, I’m sure there will be some heavy lobbying for our winter meetings to be hosted by the Sox.  Besides all there is in Gramercy is refineries and shrimpers”.

“All letterhead and uniform logos shall reflect the change to Shreveport Sox immediately.

Newsletter will be weekly, with Special Issues in between.
